About the Soulard Restoration Group
Neighbors looking out for Soulard, and for each other, since 1972.
Soulard is the kind of place where neighbors know each other by name, and the Soulard Restoration Group is a big part of why. Since 1972, we’ve been the volunteers who throw the block parties, drop a welcome bag on the porch for new homeowners, walk the neighborhood for safety, and speak up for Soulard at City Hall. It’s one of the oldest neighborhoods in St. Louis, looked after by one of its oldest neighborhood associations.
Our Mission
It comes down to belonging. We want Soulard to feel like home: the kind of block where you know your neighbors, and where anyone new to the neighborhood has someone to call. Historic preservation, safety, and advocacy all serve that same end, keeping the neighborhood close-knit and standing for whoever moves in next.

Community Events
Mardi Gras, the summer concerts, the Holiday Parlour Tour past its fiftieth year. Dozens of days a year when the whole neighborhood is out on the same sidewalk.
Historic Preservation
The brick homes are why a lot of us moved here. We help homeowners work through the historic standards, and for members, we’ll dig up the story of your own house.
Safety
Safety here means neighbors looking out for each other: safety walks, a committee that works with the police, and the National Night Out block parties every August.
Advocacy
When a zoning case or a new development affects the neighborhood, SRG carries residents’ concerns to the alderman and City Hall, so nobody has to make the case alone.
Communication
The Blaster newsletter and this website keep everyone in the loop — new restaurants, road closures, meeting recaps, and where the next party is.
Beautification
Cleanups where neighbors turn out with gloves and trash bags, the Winter Pots contest brightening people’s stoops, the Beautification Auction that funds the parks. Small, shared work that makes the blocks nicer to walk.
Get Involved
You don’t have to be a member, or even own your home, to show up. General Membership Meetings happen monthly at Saints Peter & Paul Parish Hall, Rose Room (816 Allen Ave), and they’re as much about catching up with neighbors as handling business. The Board meets the third Wednesday of each month at Soulard Station (1911 S 12th St). Renters, owners, and brand-new faces are all welcome to pull up a chair.
Support the neighborhood you love
Members are the people who make Soulard feel like Soulard. Your dues pay for the block parties, the welcome bags, the safety walks, and the work at City Hall. Every resident and renter is welcome to join.
